GALLERY WALD, EXHIBITION

This exhibition presents Miwon Park’s “Folk Nouveau,” reconfiguring the iconminhwa (Korean folk painting) through a contemporary lens under the keyword Eastrange (East + Strange).
With high-chroma suganchae (water-based pigments), crisp lines, and planar compositions, traditional motifs—Sun-Moon-Five Peaks, tiger and magpie, and the twelve zodiac animals—are reborn in images where the familiar and the unfamiliar coexist.
Visitors are invited to follow the moment when color’s vitality extends traditional apotropaic imagery into a contemporary charm, experiencing a new sensibility in which protection and blessing meet humor and verve.
