GALLERY WALD, EXHIBITION
This exhibition begins with the memories that Kim Kyoung Yi built in nature during her childhood. Growing up in a rural village, she would whisper her dreams to the poplar tree beside the front gate and look down over the town from the low hill behind her home. Those experiences return to her canvases today through countless layers of paint and carefully tuned color. The flowers in her works are not mere depictions; they are metaphors for hope, lifting their faces toward the light. Her saturated palette and vigorous brushwork reveal both the vitality of nature and the longing within. Meanwhile, the village scenes—people walking down alleys, smoke rising from chimneys, sunlight settling on rooftops—are rendered with playful compositions and rich hues, summoning the warmth of a shared community.
Kim’s paintings are a space where reality meets imagination, and memory touches the present. Just as she once found hope in the moonlight, viewers are invited to discover comfort and dreams within her works. More than a simple representation of scenery, this exhibition welcomes audiences into an experience that resonates deep within the heart.
