Artist Statement
The figures in my work often offer comfort—to each other, to themselves, or even to the viewer. I deliberately avoid defining their emotions or circumstances, as I wish to leave room for the audience’s own interpretations—shaped by their values, experiences, and state of mind.
I find energy in the solitude of creation. Through a repetitive process—layering, firing, and painting six or seven times—I discover unexpected outcomes and quiet beauty. Each time I build up a form from a handful of clay, I give it my all, as if it's the last piece I’ll ever make. Yet once it enters the kiln, I let it go, forgetting even what I had made.
Quietly, unassumingly.
I simply pick up another piece of clay, and begin again.
